The new (digital) directions of the European Commission
Along with the climate and the economy, focusing on the digital is one of the three priorities of Ursula von der Leyen's programme for the next five years. The legislative framework developed by the new Commission complements that of the previous mandate in completing the construction of the digital single market. The von der Leyen Commission puts the interests of European consumers at the centre of lawmaking. Furthermore, the deployment of new technologies should strengthen the competitiveness of European companies on the international scene through an "ecosystem of excellence and trust”.
